The majority of vintage melon footballs lost their original manufacturer embossing decades ago. This database was created to assist in the identification of ball manufacturers through the different stitch patterns used around the laces. The information contained in the database has been gleaned from available catalog information and is by no means complete. We will update the database regularly as new information is obtained. Representative patterns for different manufacturers have been provided below. The chart to the right provides catalog images for each ball style and manufacturer in the years in which they appeared.
